Organometallic Synthesis

Schlenk Lines

In addition to using the gloveboxes, the Scott Lab has two N2/vacuum Schlenk lines set up for air sensitive catalyst synthesis.

Solvent System

Glass Contours - Solvent System. Organometallic synthesis typically requires the use of O2 and H2O free solvents.  The Scott lab has a solvent  system which removes air and from solvents (THF, Et2O, hexanes and toluene)  using packed bed catalysts.  This prevents the need to distill solvents.

Buchi Rotary Evaporator

This Collegiate Roto-Vap has many uses in the synthesis of organometalic complexes.

Solid State Synthesis

Tube furnaces are used for calcination, carburization, and reduction experiments. This older model can still be heated to 1200 celsius.
